Implementing a class of structural change tests: An econometric computing approach
نویسنده
چکیده
The implementation of a recently suggested class of structural change tests, which test for parameter instability in general parametric models, in the R language for statistical computing is described: Focus is given to the question how the conceptual tools can be translated into computational tools that reflect the properties and flexiblity of the underlying econometric metholody while being numerically reliable and easy to use. More precisely, the class of generalized M-fluctuation tests (Zeileis and Hornik 2003) is implemented in the package strucchange providing easily extensible functions for computing empirical fluctuation processes and automatic tabulation of critical values for a functional capturing excessive fluctuations. Traditional significance tests are supplemented by graphical methods which do not only visualize the result of the testing procedure but also convey information about the nature and timing of the structural change and which component of the parametric model is affected by it.

Instability of the Determinants of Birth Intervals in Ahvaz-Iran: A Structural Change Modelling Approach
Birth interval is one of the major determinants of the fertility rate. In this paper structural change approach is used to study the instabilities in the effects of different socio-economic factors on birth intervals of children with respect to couple's years of marriage factor in Ahvaz-Iran. A class of M-fluctuation tests for parameter instability is used and based on these tests different evi...

Background Intersectoral action is often presented as essential in the promotion of population health and health equity. In Norway, national public health policies are based on the Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach that promotes whole-of-government responsibility. As part of the promotion of this intersectoral responsibility, p...
متن کاملMonitoring structural change in dynamic econometric models
The classical approach to testing for structural change employs retrospective tests using a historical data set of a given length. Here we consider a wide array of fluctuation-type tests in a monitoring situation – given a history period for which a regression relationship is known to be stable, we test whether incoming data are consistent with the previously established relationship. Procedure...
